Police operations to stabilise Cape Town communities plagued by gang violence are seeing more successes.
On Wednesday, officers conducted operations in Delft, where they arrested a man for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
Another man was apprehended in the N2 Gateway area, also for carrying an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as ten packets of Tik.
"The members also searched another adult male in Tornado Circle, Delft, and found him in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition. He faces charges for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
"In an unrelated intervention, members of Operation Shanela II deployed in Mfuleni, followed up information about a person who is selling drugs at a premises in Bosasa Link and searched the informal dwelling."
The police's Wesley Twigg added that an informal dwelling was then searched.
"The members found a .22 pistol, and a large amount of mandrax tablets in the informal dwelling. They arrested a 36-year-old male for the illegal possession of a firearm and possession of drugs."
