The SPCA said it is awaiting lab results before opening a criminal case with the police after 18 dogs were poisoned in Lwandle.
Ten of the dogs died in last month's incident, while another eight received medical treatment at the Animal Welfare Society Helderberg.
The SPCA sent samples of the poisoned meat and animal remains to their labs and is awaiting results to assist them in their investigations.

SPCA spokesperson, Belinda Abrahams, said they are looking for leads.
"Perpetrators could face charges not only under the Animals Protection Act and the Criminal Procedure Act, but also under the Fertiliser Farm Feeds Seeds and Remedies Act, and while some poisonings are acts of vengeance, this was likely an attempt at criminality," Abrahams said.
Inspector for the Animal Welfare Society Helderberg, Kyle Girodo, added that it is important to ensure that your dog's immune system is healthy.
"We do have a clinic that goes in every Thursday into that specific area, and we are raising awareness and telling people what to be on the lookout for with their dogs and trying to get them all up to date with vaccinations," Girodo said.
