Sibiya was placed on a leave of absence by National Commissioner Fannie Masemola in July following a series of explosive allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi claimed that Sibiya colluded with an information peddler from the North West, Brown Mogotsi, and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu to have the KZN political killings task team disbanded.
In response, Sibiya dismissed Mkhwanazi’s allegations as baseless lies, saying the KZN top cop was angered by the arrest of Crime Intelligence boss and close ally, Dumisani Khumalo.
Sibiya was later suspended in September.
The suspension came a week after he lost a court bid to be reinstated, in which he argued that his enforced leave was unlawful.
