The Department of the Premier in the Western Cape has achieved a clean audit for the 2024/25 financial year, with more than 95% of its performance targets achieved.

The department tabled its annual report for 2024/25 in the provincial legislature on Tuesday.

The department's director-general, Harry Malila, said they were able to spend more than 98 percent of their R2.1 billion budget.

"We have no cases of fruitless and wasteful expenditure that have been confirmed during this year. No cases of irregular expenditure and the general status of governance in this department is really good."

However, Malila added that more still needed to be done.

"We are also stepping up and making sure that across the system there's full conformance to all laws, regulations and the delivery agenda. For the year ahead and this year, we are building on achieving the impact of the spend and this department will do what it needs to do to make sure that those things happen."
