Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi visited the community on Sunday, following a meeting with the local police on what’s believed to be gang-related crime in the area.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said authorities will stop at nothing to hunt down the alleged killers who left six people dead in a drive-by shooting in Reiger Park, in Bokburg, in the east of Joburg.

Three people, including a child, were also injured in the onslaught over the weekend.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi visited the community on Sunday, following a meeting with the local police on what’s believed to be gang-related crime in the area.

Lesufi said authorities are working around the clock to solve the murders.

"And justice must be served. Because we can't allow this to happen. So, to the leadership of the chairs, leadership of the community, councillors, together with our National Commissioner, thank you for coming to the community of Reiger Park. Die poppe sal dans."

National Police commissioner Fannie Masemola said additional resources have been deployed in the hunt for suspects, including two known gangsters on the run.

“We have a team, we will beef it up with the view to find the killers. I can’t say tomorrow they will be in or tonight they will be in but we are going to arrest them. It’s best not to say much because I might give a message and you go and tell them.”
