2 houses & a wooden structure destroyed in fire near Tulbagh

Two houses and a wooden structure have been destroyed by a fire in the Waterval area outside Tulbagh. 

Another fire, burning in the veld adjacent to the landfill site near Wellington, is also being driven towards homes.

The Cape Winelands District Municipality's Jo-Anne Otto said that a third veldfire was burning near Val de Vie outside Paarl.

"Eleven fire vehicles and crews from CWDM stations are on scene, with support from Drakenstein Municipality. Firefighters report extremely difficult conditions, and operations are expected to continue throughout the night." 

Cape Town Fire and Rescue on Thursday also dealt with a veldfire above Military Road, on Signal Hill.

The fire's been extinguished and firefighters have been monitoring for flare-ups.
