Police probing alleged attempted murder of Brown Mogotsi after obtaining statement

Police said investigations into the alleged attempted murder of controversial businessman Brown Mogotsi are progressing after finally obtaining a statement from him.

Mogotsi met investigators at his lawyer’s offices in Johannesburg on Wednesday, where it’s understood he detailed what he claims was an attempt on his life.

He alleged that on Monday night, unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in Vosloorus, on the East Rand.

After giving police the runaround regarding submitting a statement on what he claims was an attempt on his life, Mogotsi finally met with officers.

A team of investigators questioned him about the alleged shooting and took down a formal statement.

Mogotsi had initially refused to open a case, citing fears for his safety, prompting police to open an attempted murder case on his behalf.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the wheels are now in motion.

“The team investigating the attempted murder case has also met with Brown Mogotsi at the same offices. No further comment will be provided, at this stage, as investigations into both cases continue.”

Twobullets hit the driver’s seat of the red Chevrolet Aveo that Mogotsi was supposedly driving, while another bullet struck the driver’s seat.
