Russian spy ship enters British waters; UK readies military options

A Russian spy ship entered British waters and directed lasers at pilots on Wednesday,
World news correspondent Adam Gilchrist reports that, per British defence secretary John Healey, the surveillance ship has crossed in and out of UK waters in recent weeks.
But unlike previous occasions, Russian sailors directed lasers at the British military pilots monitoring them.

"It is what it is doing under the sea that is the thing, having a good look at the infrastructure that keeps a country like the UK going," said Gilchrist.
The Defence Secretary @JohnHealey_MP this morning confirmed that a Russian spy ship – the Yantar – is on the edge of UK waters, north of Scotland, having entered the UK’s wider waters over the last few weeks.

Healey said the "deeply dangerous" move was taken "extremely seriously" by the government.
The UK would continue to monitor the ship and have "military options" ready should the vessel change course.
