The Democratic Alliance’s Federal Legal Commission (FLC) will investigate the public dispute between party leader, John Steenhuisen, and Federal Finance chair, Dion George.
This follows reports relating to Steenhuisen’s alleged personal credit card expenditure and the subsequent fallout.
This internal conflict comes at a potentially sensitive time for the DA, with its electoral conference next year, where Steenhuisen’s leadership could be contested.

Speaking to CapeTalk and 702’s Mandy Wiener, DA national spokesperson, Karabo Kaukau, said the FLC, the party’s disciplinary body, would examine all issues that have been circulating in the media.
"It is very clear that the DA has never been a party that is pro-having conversations about itself, particularly unresolved things, in the media. Particularly because there is confusion around what is going on. The federal executive decided to then constitute an investigation."
The FLC has also issued injunctions prohibiting further public discussion on the matter while investigations proceed.
