Johannesburg metro police are warning that there will be some road disruptions on Monday as the final delegations of the G20 Leaders’ Summit depart.
Routes going to the OR Tambo International Airport, Lanseria Aiport and Air Force Base Waterkloof in Pretoria will be the most affected.
The spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), Xolani Fihla, said many delegations departed over the weekend after the conclusion of the summit on Sunday.
Fihla added that there will also be some rail closures and intermittent standstills across the province.
“Motorists should expect sudden full traffic halts lasting close to 30 minutes and routes that can be affected are the R21, the R24, the N3, M1 and N1 and N14. We urge commuters to plan for significant extra travel time, use alternative routes where possible and continuously monitor real time traffic updates.
“Authorities are working to clear the network as quickly as possible once the final delegations have departed.”
