Mitchells Plain CPF decries stabbing of girl (3)

Mitchells Plain Community Policing Forum (CPF) has condemned a stabbing incident in which a three-year-old girl sustained injuries in Tafelsig.

Police are investigating the circumstance surrounding the incident after arresting a 39-year-old man following the attack on Monday night.

The CPF’s PR officer, Linda Jones, said the community is disturbed by the targeting of defenceless children in this season.

She added that most victims have fallen prey to family members.

"We are really calling on our communities to step up. Stop protecting the perpetrators. We cannot condone these crimes; we cannot sit idly by and watch our children become victims to these crimes and falling prey to these offenders."

Jones reiterated the importance of exposing culprits.

This, after police reported community members stoning and injuring an officer upon the arrest of the suspect last night.

"People are not willing to give statements, and that make it very hard. So what dockets are SAPS [South African Police Service] going to present to the court that has nothing in.
