The attorney representing the man accused of having allegedly played a role in the murder of Warrick Stock, commonly known as DJ Warras, claims the State has a weak case against his client.

Victor Majola was arrested in Soweto six days after Stock was shot dead by an unknown suspect in Johannesburg’s CBD on 16 December 2025.

Charged with premeditated murder, Majola briefly appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where his case was postponed to next week for a formal bail application.

Majola’s attorney, Dumisani Mabunda, claims the State’s case against his client is not solid.

He is charged with premeditated murder in relation to the murder of DJ Warras.

Addressing the media outside the Johannesburg Magistrates Court this morning after Majola’s brief second appearance, Mabunda accused the State of having no substantialevidence linking his client to Stock’s murder.

"They actually struggled to place this matter on the court roll due to a lack of evidence. They took almost five hours or so, discussing the matter with the prosecution, to gather evidence to actually place this matter on record."

Mabunda took a dig at the national Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, who publicly announced they were close to making an arrest in the case, three days before Majola’s arrest.

"Remember when one says on a Saturday that they will arrest a suspect on a Monday, it means, therefore, that they were already under pressure to make an arrest, and at all costs, they arrested somebody.

Majola will remain in custody at Johannesburg Prison until his bail application next week.
