Private security company Gauteng Anti-Crime Units claims the drug bust operation, which led to the arrest of its chairperson, Duma Radebe, and ActionSA’s mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni, Xolani Khumalo, was sanctioned by the police.
Khumalo made a brief appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of assault and the pointing of a firearm.
It is alleged that he beat up an adult male at his Katlehong home on the 18th of December last year.

Gauteng Anti-Crime Units claimed its members, along with Xolani Khumalo, were invited by the South African Police Service (SAPS) to raid the home of a notorious drug dealer in Katlehong.
Following the operation, an adult male opened assault cases against the unit’s chairperson, Duma Radebe, and Xolani Khumalo.
The security unit's spokesperson, Mojalefa Boya, said they were there to provide additional muscle.
"You could see even today when we were at court, the very same police that we were working with on the day, today it was like they don’t know us. So we feel a lot let down because it was not our operation, it was an SAPS operation. Nonetheless, we will allow the law to take its course but I can tell you, a majority of us will be reluctant to help SAPS in future," said Boya.
Boya also confirmed the raid was not part of Khumalo's reality crime-busting TV show, Sizok’thola.
