The man accused of orchestrating the murder of Warrick Stock, popularly known as ‘DJ Warras’, was on Monday considered a flight risk and a danger to society.

Victor Majola was denied bail in the Johannesburg magistrate’s court following a lengthy bail application.

The court found that the 44-year-old taxi boss failed to raise exceptional circumstances to warrant his release.

In her judgment, Magistrate Annelise Tlhapi emphasised that the State had made a strong case in opposing Majola’s release on bail.

The Soweto taxi boss was arrested six days after Stock was killed in the Johannesburg CBD in December.

Tlhapi said the evidence linking Majola to the crime was overwhelming.

“The applicant, if released on bail, will endanger the public safety, taking into consideration the degree of violence that was used during the commission of the offence,” she ruled.

The magistrate further ruled that Majola was a flight risk.

“He submitted different addresses and therefore it may be difficult for the State to trace him,” she said.

The case was postponed to next month for further investigation.
