Forensic analyst Paul O’Sullivan will finally get a chance to answer to allegations of police interference when he gives evidence before Parliament’s ad hoc committee on Tuesday.

O’Sullivan will also appear in person, after initially requesting to appear virtually because of safety fears.

He will give evidence before the Parliament ad hoc committee investigating police corruption and respond to allegations that he interfered in Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) affairs and targeted senior police officials.

O’Sullivan avoided being subpoenaed by Parliament after he initially refused to appear in person.

He said he feared for his life and asked to appear virtually.

But after discussions with Parliament over his security, he will now face allegations in person about his close relationship with former IPID head Robert McBride.

He will also be questioned about his threat to one of the witnesses who implicated him.

Evidence leader Norman Arendse said, “As far as the evidence leaders are concerned and in our consultations with O’Sullivan which have been extensive, he’s appearing tomorrow [Tuesday] to answer questions from the evidence leaders and the members of the committee.”

The committee will continue its hearings beyond next week’s deadline, after requesting another extension from the Speaker.
