Heavy rain and gale-force winds battered the cape peninsula on Sunday as the second of two cold fronts made landfall.
Disaster risk management teams are now assessing the damage in several communities including Nyanga, Brown’s Farm and Parkwood.
The city’s disaster operations centre said that the roads and storm water teams are being dispatched where needed.
Disaster Risk Management Spokesperson Sonica Lategan said, "The effect of the heavy downpours in Umkhonto square informal settlement in Nyanga as well as Brown's Farm in Philippi can only be confirmed once assessments are completed. Several roads in Parkwood have also been affected."
