Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said that the military has been ordered to use full force in Lebanon - if troops face any threat even during the current ceasefire.

Katz said that the directive was approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and is aimed at protecting Israeli soldiers.

He said that the troops have also been instructed to destroy any booby-trapped buildings or roads.

Israel said that the goal is to remove houses in border villages believed to have been used as hezbollah outposts and a threat to Israeli communities.

Meanwhile the military said that an Israeli soldier was killed in southern Lebanon on Friday the day a 10-day ceasefire began.

Katz has repeatedly said Israel plans to demolish homes along the border as part of efforts to create a security zone in southern Lebanon.
