Geordin Hill-Lewis is often hailed as "the people's mayor" by Cape Town residents, despite criticism of his administration's value-based municipal charges, declared unlawful in a court ruling this week.
And now, a decision to have his hair cut by a young barber on the Cape Flats, has endeared him even more to the Mitchells Plain community.
After he was elected Federal Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) recently, his greatest fans are punting Hill-Lewis as the country's next president.
"The People's Mayor you will always be!! Even when u become our President!!", reads once comment on the haircut video.
Hill-Lewis captioned it "Dankie Jayden, my trim is in."
The video shows the Mayor seated outside on a chair, enjoying a chat with Jayden and humorous interactions with onlookers.
"I'll pay more; it's alright" he retorts after a woman says he's being charged more, at R100.
After the haircut is completed, to the enjoyment of the crowd, Hill-Lewis takes leave of his new barber with a promise to return in a month's time.
Jayden himself looks pleased as punch as he's congratulated by the locals.
