The City of Cape Town's Water and Sanitation Department on Tuesday said that water supply at the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant is being restored.
Residents living in Bloekombos, Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, Melkbosstrand, Atlantis and surrounding areas reported having no water after the treatment plant was shut down due to a pipe burst last Friday.
City Mayco Member for Water and Sanitation Zahid Badroodien said the city's teams had repaired the pipe burst and water was now filling the reservoir.
“I want to say a special thank you not only to our residents who have been so patient but also to the hard-working team who have been working non-stop, and as quickly and as safely as possible to restore water to our communities who have been impacted by this unfortunate inconvenience,” Badroodien said.
