Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden cracks NYT's top 10 Gardens in the World list

It's ranked ninth, just behind The High Line in New York City, while Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Cranbrook, in England, is the top-rated garden, followed by the only other English garden on the list, Great Dixter House & Gardens in Northiam.

CAPE TOWN - Cape Town's Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden has made the New York Times' list of the Top 10 Gardens in the World.

It's ranked ninth, just behind The High Line in New York City, while Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Cranbrook, in England, is the top-rated garden, followed by the only other English garden on the list, Great Dixter House & Gardens in Northiam. 

Italy, Belgium, Japan and Australia are the other countries with gardens ranked highly by a panel of six horticulturalists. 

South Africa's Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Ministry's Thobile Zulu-Molobi: "This honour from the New York Tines is a testament to the dedication of SANBI and the Kirstenbosch team, whose tireless efforts ensure that the garden remains a global beacon of conservation and sustainability."
