Police nab 3 alleged hijackers in Khayelitsha

CAPE TOWN - Three alleged hijackers have been caught red-handed trying to strip a stolen car in Makhaza, in Khayelitsha.
Police said they responded to a report of a hijacked vehicle believed to be in the Level 2 informal settlement on Tuesday night.
When they arrived, they saw the hijacked vehicle and waited for the alleged hijackers.
Police said moments later, three men approached the vehicle and started removing car parts.
Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk, said that their members quickly pounced on the men and arrested them.
"During a search of the vehicle, the members also found an imitation firearm under the driver's seat. A case docket for hijacking and attempted murder was registered, as the vehicle's owner was shot in the leg during the hijacking. Three suspects aged between 30 and 34 were detained for possession of hijacked motor vehicle and an imitation firearm."
