Eyewitness News' Tshidi Madia delves into why DA leader John Steenhuisen's 'political mercenaries' comment during the launch of the party's manifesto in the Western Cape has caused such a stir.

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen addressed supporters in Paarl where the party launched its Western Cape manifesto on 6 April 2024.

During his address, he called parties like the Patriotic Alliance and GOOD "political mercenaries". He also denounced them for campaigning in the DA-run province, and claimed there was a desire by some to loot the Western Cape.
