JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) has condemned the harassment of a male nurse at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital.
The nurse was questioned about his nationality and whether he was in the country legally.
The incident was captured on video, which has been widely circulated on social media.
DENOSA's Bongani Banda said that such cases were very dangerous because they instigated acts of xenophobia.
"It is confirmed that the said male nurse is meeting all the requirements of practising legally in the country, and he is currently registered with the South African Nursing Council, along with the qualifications that he has."
