SAPS offers rewards for info on three Cape Town murder cases

CAPE TOWN - The South African Police Service is offering a number of monetary rewards, in at least three cases that detectives are struggling to crack in Cape Town.

One relates to the murder of a principal, another pertains to the killing of a tourist and the latest involves the murder of a well-known taxi boss.

The rewards range from R50,000 to R100,000.

Following the shooting of CATA Regional Taxi Association executive, Mongi Titi, at the Nyanga rank two weeks ago, this is what the police's Malcolm Pojie has been able to confirm.

"The investigation has not delivered any arrests yet and police have now indicated anyone with information that helps track down the killers could earn a reward of up to R50,000."

Older cases are also still offering rewards.

Another R50,000 reward is on offer in connection with the shooting of a principal in Kraaifontein in January.

The Ekuthuleni Primary School headmaster was shot dead in his car outside the school premises, while his wife was wounded in the arm.

An even bigger reward is being offered for information about the murder of a British doctor in Nyanga in August 2023.

The man and his family were en route to the airport when their GPS re-directed them through Nyanga, because the N2 was blocked due to a taxi strike.

An unknown man approached their vehicle and shot him in the head.
