CAPE TOWN - Comic-Con Cape Town is in full swing.

Thousands of pop culture fanatics are expected to attend the event over the weekend as they immerse themselves in the world of comics and gaming.

Emerging artists were also showcasing their talent on Friday, with live drawing sessions.

Kieran Paulsen, an emerging artist, said that staying creative in a social media-driven world could be hard.

"In this world where there's so much social media, TikTok, everything's on the rise, AI's on the rise. So, you really have to flex all of your muscles, you've got to showcase all your talents, you've got to do everything and put it all into one piece, if it's Star Wars, whatever you love, and just go all the way."

Paulsen added that creating art was about putting your whole heart into it and to never go in half-heartedly.

"I think if you are half-hearted about what you do, whether it's art, whether it's anything, then you could be worried, but I think if you go all in, no matter what, I don't think you have to worry. I think AI is a tool and it helps progression, but it should not be the be all and end all and it should not be leaned on 90% of the way."
