CAPE TOWN - The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape said its victory in the Knysna by-election shows a gradual shift in the political landscape of the province.
The ANC achieved its first by-election win under the current provincial executive committee (PEC) in Knysna for Ward 8 on Wednesday last week.
Provincial spokesperson Khalid Sayed said the victory reaffirmed the ANC’s connection to communities and its commitment to renewal, unity, and service delivery.
"We want to congratulate Comrade Ndoda Aubrey Tsengwa, whose dedication and deep-rooted work among the people helped deliver this victory.
"We also extend our appreciation to the NEC [national executive committee] deployees, as well as NEC members not deployed to our province, who camped in the area and supported the campaign."
Sayed also thanked Knysna residents for their support.
"Most importantly, we want to thank the residents of Knysna for their trust in the ANC and for reaffirming their belief in the values we stand for. Your voice has been heard, and it matters."
Sayed also noted the Democratic Alliance (DA)'s loss of their base area in Ward 9, Mossel Bay, to the Patriotic Alliance (PA).
