JOHANNESBURG - The City of Ekurhuleni is looking at alternative power supply to assist communities affected by the outage caused by the fire that ripped through the Palm Ridge substation.
Palm Ridge proper and extensions, Sky City and surrounding areas have been in the dark since Thursday.

The city’s disaster and emergency management services are currently investigating the cause of the fire that started in the control room and spread across the entire substation.
Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said: "Our engineers are looking at alternative sources of power that can assist us to restore power to affected communities of Palm Ridge, Sky City and Palm Ridge extensions. We are working on it, and we will communicate on a regular basis as we move along."
