Investigations continue into murder of 80-year-old Freda Kriek

CAPE TOWN - Police are still investigating the tragic death of 80-year-old Freda Kriek, a week since she was stabbed by an unknown assailant.

Kriek was on her way to church from her old-age home when she was robbed and killed.

The non-governmental organisation (NGO), Age in Action, said that the murder and abuse of the elderly is alarming.

Mark Truss from the Cape Town community policing forum (CPF) said, "We don't understand why he did that [considering she was] an elderly lady. I mean, it could have been quite easy to just grab her and take whatever he needed without hurting her.”
