September saw a surge in South Africa’s used car market, as buyers gravitate toward practical, budget-friendly options.
Over 33,000 used cars were sold on AutoTrader in September.
This is a 16% year-on-year increase.
The Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10 were among the top ten, demonstrating high demand for affordable, small hatchbacks in the second-hand market.
Overall, Toyota was the top-performing brand, followed by VW and Ford.
There has also been a decline in the sale of luxury brands as people choose more affordable options.
Ernest Page from cars.co.za states that South Africa was historically a small car market, so it makes sense that we are returning to that.
“What’s wrong with having more sense in the parking bay as well?” he adds.
