A 27-year-old victim who was shot during an ordeal that claimed the lives of two women in Mamelodi told EWN that it could have only been God who saved his life.

Desmond Senong was with Tshiamo and Baleseng Moramaga moments before they were murdered in the early hours of Sunday.

It's understood that Senong and the Moramaga cousins got into an argument with the alleged gunman, Tebogo Mnisi, believed to be the boyfriend of one of the women.

Mnisi appeared in the Mamelodi Magistrates Court on Wednesday on five charges, including murder and attempted murder and firearm-related offences.

Senong said that he was at the local establishment, Small Konka Shisanyama, in Mamelodi East on Saturday night when he bumped into cousins Tshiamo and Baleseng Moramaga, whom he said had met before through a friend.

He showed EWN videos of himself dancing with the women just hours before they were shot dead on Sunday morning.

Senong said he was not aware that Tshiamo’s boyfriend, Tebogo Mnisi, was watching them.

"I went back into the shisanyama to look for my friend and that’s when I saw Tshiamo standing at the entrance with someone. I later learned that’s Tebogo. I started calling for my friend and Tebogo told me I’m being noisy but I was drunk, so I did not pay any attention to him. I left the establishment with Baleseng and started walking."

He said that after he left the shisanyama with Baleseng at 2:30 am, they walked through the streets of Mamelodi with the intention of continuing partying at anotherestablishment, but they were stopped by Mnisi, who was driving with Tshiamo.

"I just saw him park in front of me, open the door and cock the gun. And then he just started shooting at me. Tshiamo panicked and asked him what he was doing. That's when I ran away."

Senong said that after he was shot in his private parts, he felt pain almost immediately but he still managed to run, jumping into different yards on his way home out of fear that Mnisi might catch up with him and kill him.

He said that once he made it home, he managed to call for help from neighbours and he was taken to hospital.
