KZN police warn matriculants to ensure pens down parties don’t break the law

KwaZulu-Natal police have issued a stern warning to matriculants to make sure they enjoy their planned pens down parties without breaking the law.
On Thursday, KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi launched the province’s safety season campaign.

He said that a number of grade 12 pupils would be celebrating the end of their high school era.
However, he has raised concerns that in the past, these events have gotten out of hand.
"These parties must be treated in a manner that it's a celebratory party and not parties that are cause mayhem to the local communities where some of these kids are going to fall victim of rape and assault and even murder."
He has urged parents to ensure that their children were not on the wrong side of the law.
"You do not want your child to be in conflict with the law because police will be out in full force and will ensure that we don’t negotiate with lawbreakers, including your children that will be out celebrating. We will not have mercy for them if they break the law."
