Consumers can expect notable price cuts for both petrol and diesel on Wednesday, 5 November.
According to the latest data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) at the end of week four in October, the over-recoveries that have been accumulating since the start of the month have held steady.
Henry van der Merwe, Chairperson of the South African Petroleum Retailers Association (SAPRA), confirms that the fuel price decreases are the result of the rand's strength and the price of crude decreasing.
"The rand is strengthening; we're at about R17,30, and I think because of the Gaza ceasefire, crude has gone down to about $61, which is the lowest we've seen in quite a while. Fortunately, it's good news.
"I think things are stabilising, but it's very volatile and changes very quickly, but I think for the next month we're going to be fine. I think things are going to slow down for Christmas, and I think we should be fine until the New Year.
"Hopefully, everything will reflect in the selling price of goods, but it's been very stable lately, despite the wars. Everything is better when the price of fuel goes down."
