Alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack has been questioned in court about why co-accused Zane Kilian was tracking the whereabouts of his alleged underworld rivals, Jerome Booysen and the now-deceased Mark Lifman and Andre Naude.
Modack and 14 others face 122 charges for various crimes, including the murder of top cop Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear.
Kinnear was shot outside his Bishop Lavis home in September 2020.

Modack insists Kilian only started working for him in June 2020.
It’s Modack’s version he sought Kilian’s services to prove Kinnear was in cahoots with Lifman, Booysen and Naude.
Evidence collected by the Hawks shows Kilian was pinging Kinnear, Lifman, Booysen and Naude since March 2020.
State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans questioned Modack about why Kilian was pinging them without his instruction.
"Mark Lifman, his first ping was on 12 March and Andre Naude 11 March. How would he know to ping people who were not on your Christmas list?"
"He was working for them indirectly, my lord,” Modack responded
Modack will be back in the dock when the trial proceeds on Thursday.
