Controversial North West businessman Brown Mogotsi will continue to be cross-examined on Thursday when he appears before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.
On Wednesday, Mogotsi was grilled on aspects of his testimony, with the chief evidence leader, Advocate Matthew Chaskalson, accusing him of lying to the commission under oath.

Chaskalson identified discrepancies in Mogotsi’s testimony, challenging him on the veracity of his claims and whether he could provide proof.
One of the claims the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry sought clarity on from Mogotsi was the alleged payments from criminally accused tenderprenueur Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala to Bheki Cele and Fannie Masemola.
Mogotsi claimed that Matlala told him he paid R2 million to Cele and R5 million to Masemola to secure his R360 million South African Police Service (SAPS) contract.
He was accused of misleading and misdirecting the commission by making unsubstantiated claims.
“All I’m saying is I came to give my side of the story. For one to say this is a misdirection when I say this is what I know. If Cat was lying to me, he lied to me. But this is what I know he told me.”
But co-commissioner Advocate Sesi Baloyi was not having it.
“I’m not discussing misdirection, but I come from a position of concern that you are making statements, even during this short exercise of cross examination, none of which is backed up by any investigation on your part that you can produce the facts for us to say, ‘Here’s proof’.”
Mogotsi will continue to be interrogated on Thursday.
