Excitement is building ahead of the Betway SA20 League on Boxing Day, 26 December.

The opening match will take place at Newlands in Cape Town, where defending champions MI Cape Town will face Durban’s Super Giants.

The tournament is expected to run through January 2026 and will feature 34 matches.

SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith said the absence of a Boxing Day Test and a summer Test series had created a gap in the cricket calendar, which the SA20 League is now filling.

He added that the league is not just about cricket, but also about creating a fun and engaging experience for fans.

“We wanted to create a platform for our cricketers to really showcase their skills in highly competitive cricket, while also celebrating summer in South Africa, something for everyone,” he said.

He encouraged fans to attend the SA20 League, with tickets available at SA20.co.za.

"It promises to be an exciting experience with world-class cricket and entertainment."
