Mourners from across the country gathered on Saturday in Mukondeni village in Limpopo to bid farewell to David Sejobe.

The 49-year-old Multichoice security officer died last week after being hit by a car while cycling to work along the Golden Highway, in an incident being investigated as a suspected hit-and-run.

A crowdfunding campaign established to honour Sejobe has raised R530,000, largely through small individual donations from South Africans.

Messages written on the crowd funding platform highlighted the impact Sejobe had on people through everyday acts of kindness, when they drove past his security post daily.

Sejobe was widely known for his warmth, with his death prompting an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, public figures and members of the public nationwide.
