The son of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe will soon appear in the Alexandra Magistrates Court to face charges of attempted murder.

Twenty-nine-year-old Bellarmine Mugabe and another unidentified suspect were taken in for questioning on Thursday, following a shooting at a plush property in Hyde Park.

They were later arrested and charged with attempted murder.

This, after an employee of the Mugabe’s was shot twice while on the property.

The 23-year-old victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

EWN understand the docket concerning the attempted murder case against Mugabe has been transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit.

This is the same unit that has been tasked to investigate the murder of Warrick Stock, AKA DJ Warras.

The son of the late former Zimbabwean president will now have to face the music in relation to an employee who was shot.

It remains unclear whether it was Mugabe or his co-accused who pulled the trigger, shooting the employee twice in the back.

The incident happened on Thursday morning at a plush property in Hyde Park, near President Cyril Ramaphosa’s private residence.

“The police can confirm that the two men that were brought in for questioning in relation to a shooting that occurred earlier today [Thursday] at Hyde Park have been officially arrested, and are expected to appear before Alexandra Court soon on charges of attempted murder,” said police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevuhulwi.

Police investigations continue.
