The thing about Kfm Mornings is... you'll laugh or learn something - most mornings it's both.

This morning, Sherlin told the team that she saw something "very great" on TikTok, which is a DIY sandpit for kids - she's thinking of making one for her twins' entertainment.

How does it work? You buy a children's camping tent, fill it with sand, and put your kids in it to have the time of their lives.

There's just one problem: where will Sherlin get sand? Her plan is to fetch a few bags or two over a period of time at the beach... but is it even allowed?

ENTER: Teachable moment...

Taking/collecting sand from the beach is illegal - we're not talking about the bits of sand that get stuck everywhere and that you take home with you after a beach day - we're talking, intentionally going to fill some bags with beach sand for personal use.

According to Darren, Rameez, and a quick Google, "In South Africa, removing sand from a beach is generally illegal, particularly if it involves commercial activity or significant quantities. Larger-scale removal is regulated and requires permits due to its potential environmental impact and the rights of the public to access and enjoy the coastline."

Google also said that taking sand from the beach might cause damage to the natural ecological environment of the coastline.
