The family of Mniki said they were shocked to hear claims that he attacked his girlfriend witha gun because he does not have one.

His sister, Vuyokazi Ntuthu, said the girlfriend did not account for where he had gone after the alleged assault – instead, she left her residence.

The management of the campus said they have allowed police to access the premises to conduct investigations.

Ntuthu said, “She won’t give us the details. We keep asking her that when he assaulted you, what do you mean? And she says ‘he assaulted me, he came here with a gun and then he ran off’, and then she says he threw his phone in the bin.”
