Madlanga Commission: Witness 'X' outlines messages between Matlala and KZN Hawks boss

Witness 'X' is currently testifying remotely at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, with their identity being concealed to protect their safety.

The witness is picking up where Crime Intelligence boss, Dumisani Khumalo, left off, unpacking WhatsApp messages between tender tycoon and attempted murder accused, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, and several prominent figures.

The witness has started by outlining messages between Matlala and KZN Hawks boss, Lesetja Senona, who is alleged to have a vested interest in protecting Matlala due to his business dealings with his son, Thatho Senona.

The witness is answering questions through one of the evidence leaders, Advocate Thabang Pooe, who is repeating their answers.

"Major General Senona has a close and beneficial relationship with an alleged criminal, and you will also see the close relationship that Mr. Matlala has with the general's son."
