Mother of Milnerton High pupil filmed being assaulted demands justice for her son

The mother of the 16-year-old Milnerton High School pupil who was assaulted by a group of older boys at the school says she wants justice for what happened to her son.
 
A video of the incident has since gone viral, prompting seven other pupil to lay criminal complaints against the accused.
 
It emerged in court on Thursday that an additional ninth complainant has also lodged complaints against the accused.
 
Eight learners from the school were formally charged with eight counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm on Thursday when they appeared in Cape Town Magistrates Court.
 
Six of the accused were released on R2,000 bail, while two underage pupils, who face the same charges, were released into the custody of their parents.
 
The mother of the 16-year-old boy in the video said the accused should face the full might of the law.

"I want the law to take its course because it's a serious, serious case and they're big boys - 18 years old and 19 years old - and these boys are sixteeen years old, nine of them - because they assualted nine of them."

The court has issued a strict order prohibiting the publication of any names, photographs, addresses, or other details of the learners or their families. 

The order is in place to protect the identities of those involved while legal proceedings continue.
