Eight grade eleven pupils were handed suspension letters after a video of one of the incidents went viral this week.

The mother of a grade ten pupil who was assaulted by a group of grade eleven pupils at Milnerton High School said that she was shocked to hear that the same boys had been bullying pupils at the school for more than a year.

"They've been doing this. There's lots of stories coming out not from the boys... they've been doing this to the boys for the whole year."

The mother referred to a school tour to George earlier this year.

"They were beaten there. They switched off the lights. They beat them and took their money. It's been happening. Sometimes during lunch break, they will slap the boys."

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) said the school had suspended eight learners who will face formal disciplinary hearings related to the incident.
