Tshwane’s water infrastructure continues to face significant strain, with several reservoirs—including Soshanguve, Mabopane, and Zithobeni in Bronkhorstspruit—lying empty.
City officials say that while some reservoirs are gradually recovering from depletion, they are showing signs of stabilisation.
The cities of Tshwane and Johannesburg have experienced major water outages following an explosion at the Zuickerbosch treatment plant, which has compounded water supply challenges.
Tshwane spokesperson Selby Bokaba is calling on residents to reduce water consumption to help stabilise the system.
"The systems that are still experiencing major challenges include the Mabopane Main and Kruisfontein reservoirs, which are still at critically low levels," said Bokaba. "Customers are urged to use water sparingly to support the city’s recovery efforts."
