Brown Mokgotsi tells police he fears for his life after alleged hit

Controversial businessman Brown Mokgotsi has told police he fears for his life after what he claims was a hit.

Mokgotsi alleges that unknown men in a white bakkie opened fire on his car in Voslorus on Johannesburg's east rand on Monday night.

Police recovered eleven cartridges at the scene.

On Tuesday, ballistic experts examined the vehicle and collected evidence at the Vosloorus Police Station.

Police allowed journalists to observe as ballistic experts examined evidence linked to the alleged shooting of Mokgotsi.

The car was riddled with bullets, with two striking the driver’s seat and another the passenger seat.

Mokgotsi escaped unharmed.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said Mokgotsi told officers that he feared for his life.

“We are told that he refused to open a case last night, citing fears for his life. As of now, we are still awaiting the victim to present himself at the Voslorus Police Station so that we are able to take down his statement.”

Police have opened an attempted murder case after Mokgotsi refused to open one himself.
