In Deal or No Deal Celebrity, the beloved Mzansi stars can win anything between R1 and R250,000 for their charity.

Uzalo’s Thuthuka Mthembu takes on the banker in the first episode of Deal or No Deal Celebrity Season 2

The dynamic young actress Thuthuka Mthembu will put her heart on the line for charity when Deal or No Deal Celebrity, sponsored by LottoStar, returns to SABC 1 for a second season on Saturday, 14 June, at 6 pm.

Thuthuka is best known for playing Nonka “Miss Ghetto Fab” Xaba in Uzalo.

In the country’s number-one soap, her character is a vicacious, tenacious, strong-willed, money-driven go-getter, and those are the same qualities Thuthuka will bring to Deal or No Deal Celebrity to beat the show’s notorious banker in the number-one game show on South African television.

She will also dress for success in the hopes of winning big for the Jumping Kids Prosthetic Fund, an NGO that changes the lives of children from previously disadvantaged communities living with lower-limb amputations.

However, Thuthuka is not the only one wearing an on-the-money outfit in Deal or No Deal Celebrity Season 2’s first episode.

Host Katlego Maboe is donning a new outfit, tailor-made for this glitzy weekly Deal or No Deal spin-off, where glamour meets goodwill.

In Deal or No Deal Celebrity, the beloved Mzansi stars can win anything between R1 and R250,000 for their charity.

It all depends on which briefcase, held by the show’s gorgeous Money Models, they choose as their bargaining chip, and in which order they choose to open the remainder of the briefcases.

The pressure is also felt when the banker makes a phone call with an offer to buy the briefcase in their possession.

Will the celebs press the LottoStar button to strike a deal and secure the amount for their charity? Or will they not take the deal, running the risk of ending up with a much smaller amount?

Thuthuka eagerly wants to join the league of Deal or No Deal players who managed to donate one of the “big three” amounts on the show’s Money Ladder—R100,000, R150,000, or R250,000—to the Jumping Kids Prosthetic Fund.

“Let’s get some big money!” she said, wishing to become Deal or No Deal Celebrity’s third player to ace the R250,000 jackpot.

“I am so excited to be the first celebrity guest on the second season and win big to make a difference in the lives of kids, and particularly those who benefit from the amazing work done by Jumping Kids.”

To date, only Rorisang Thandekiso and Pearl Modiadie have hit the R250,000 jackpot, but who knows? Anything can happen in this exhilarating game of chance.

Deal or No Deal Celebrity, produced by Homebrew Films for Primedia Studios, premieres on SABC 1 on Saturdays at 6 pm.

The rebroadcasts are on S3 on Sundays at 4.30 pm and SABC 1 on Tuesdays at 10 pm. You can also watch the latest episodes on SABC+.
