The school has faced widespread criticism for allegedly only taking action after the video went viral.

Education department spokesperson, Bronagh Hammond: "Disciplinary processes are prescribed by law and the school is following due process. The school will now hold a disciplinary hearing and based on that outcome, determine a sanction or recommend to the head of department of the WED, expulsion."

Hammond also responded to allegations that the school failed to act until the video went viral.

"The school has followed due process. They immediately reported the allegations of abuse to the WCED on Friday and processes for investigation were immediately initiated."

Hammond also confirmed two additional videos had been handed to the school and would form part of the investigation.
